Artist Statement
I started to paint when I was a
kid. During my professional training in China and America, I learned about
many painting media, including watercolor, Chinese ink, gouache, acrylic,
but oil painting is my favorite. I enjoy capturing the beauty around us,
such as colorful autumns, white snowy scenes, foggy cities, people’s
emotions, and expression of the human form. These are the sources of my
inspiration.
Usually I start a
painting from a key idea or concept. When something touches me, a picture
takes shape in my mind. Then I use painting techniques as tools to express
the idea. As an artist, I incessantly improve my skills and make them become
my second nature. I believe better techniques produce better paintings.
Every stroke in my paintings goes from my mind through my hand to the
canvas. It is my language to tell people stories.
