“Henry Moore once said, "It is a mistake for a sculptor or a painter to speak or write very often about his job. It releases tension needed for his work." While I would rather let my artwork speak for itself, it is customary to write an artist's statement to assist the viewer. In doing so, I will endeavor to be succinct and not write a thesis on art.

Equally adept at painting or sculpting, my subject matter ranges from figurative and portraiture to landscape. By combining these elements, often I am able to introduce historical and mythological themes to my work. As a result of continuing in this genre of narrative art, I can bring to life the myths and legends that have shaped our society throughout history.

I believe that the highest form of art is the representation of the human figure. As a traditional painter and sculptor, I consider sound draftsmanship and a solid knowledge of human anatomy essential for the successful execution of my work. "The greatest tragedy in art is when theory outstrips performance." Leonardo da Vinci.

Many of the techniques that I employ in my artwork come from studying the era of the late 19th century; a time that produced some of the greatest artists the world has ever seen. Inspired by these artistic values and traditions, stretching back more than 5oo years, I have traveled abroad many times to study first hand the work of artists such as Waterhouse, Bouguereau, Tadema and Sargent. It is important to me to keep alive what these and other artists like them were doing. It's my desire to bring back art with which we, as a society, can identify.”
